What is Thread Lift?

A Thread Lift is an innovative facial rejuvenation procedure designed to gently elevate sagging brows, cheeks and jowls. Due to the unique design of the PromoItalia delicate thread filaments used in the procedure, the surrounding tissues act to hold them in place without the need for visible scars.

Treatment

A thread lift procedure will generally be well tolerated with local anaesthetic and oral sedation. If you require a longer or more complicated procedure, we may use intravenous sedation just to make sure you are completely comfortable throughout the process.

A standard procedure usually involves up to 6 threads per side, and will take around 30–60 minutes. If you are receiving more than 6 threads per side, monitoring and sedation will be compulsory. No hospitalisation is required, however we will keep you under observation for 1–2 hours after the procedure– just to make sure there are no major complications from either the procedure or the sedative.

At your consultation appointment, we will discuss the suitability of the procedure – as well as the possible side effects. Although these rarely occur, and in most cases will resolve themselves, some of the side effects can include:

  • Swelling
  • Discomfort/pain
  • Bruising
  • ‘Pulling’ or ‘tightness’
  • Puckering/dimpling of the skin
  • Scarring
  • Asymmetry
  • Bleeding
  • Nerve trauma (usually temporary)
  • Infection
  • Numbness (usually temporary)
  • Shorter than expected duration of correction
  • Thread breakage

After treatment, ice pack compresses are recommended for the immediate two hours following. If you experience soreness, oral analgesia such as paracetamol can be taken.
